Differentiated Quality Drinks
This is the name given to wines with special characteristics due to the origin of the raw materials used and/or the winemaking processes. These products are regulated by European Union (EU) regulations.
Designations of Origin
Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) products are those whose quality or characteristics are due to the geographical area, taking into account its natural and human resources, and whose production, processing and preparation are always carried out in the defined geographical area from which they take their name.
Protected Geographical Indication
Products with a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) have a specific quality that can be attributed to a geographical origin and whose production, processing or preparation takes place in the defined geographical area from which it takes its name.

PGI Wines of Tierra de Castilla
Community regulations allow the possibility of producing wines with a geographical indication, provided that they have been obtained from certain varieties and come from a specific production area. In Spain, these wines are called Vinos de la Tierra and may use on their labelling information relating to the varieties, vintages and name of the holding, as well as the natural or technical conditions of viticulture which have given rise to the wine.
The social and economic importance of the sector in the region, as well as the modernisation efforts made by producers, processors, bottlers and marketers in recent years, requires an instrument that allows them to offer their quality wines to the market with a decent label.
The types of wines that can be produced under the Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla PGI are: white, rosé and red wines; semi-sparkling wines; sparkling wines; liqueur wines; and wines made from overripe grapes.

Pagos
Vino de Pago wines are special wines with particularities that differentiate them from the wines of their surroundings, thus deserving to be distinguished and catalogued in a different way. Thus, the Vino de Pago is a type of Spanish denomination of origin that guarantees the origin of the grapes and wine from a specific pago.
