In 1990, a group of entrepreneurs decided to find a privileged enclave to start the Martúe wine project in La Guardia (Toledo).
The place is special because there are unique microclimatic and soil conditions, all conditioned by being in the middle of an ancient clash of tectonic plates. The Meseta de Ocaña ends abruptly in La Guardia and leaves behind, along its sides, the valleys and ravines of the Algodor rivers to the west and the Cedrión to the east, which have been excavated for years, piercing the limestone mass with their waters.
In 2009 the winery is recognized with the highest classification that can be granted to a Spanish winery, the Denomination of Origin PAGO, which has only been granted to 20 Spanish wineries that have particularities in the climate and soil, which make its different, unique and recognizable wines.
